Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has restated his desire to one day play for Spanish giants Real Madrid, following a promise he made to his grandfather.
The 27-year-old, who has been heavily linked with English heavyweights Manchester City, was speaking moments after scoring a goal and assisting another for his club Borussia Dortmund as they fought back from two goals down to draw 2:2 with Real in a UEFA Champions League game at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Before the game his French mother of Spanish descent had said Aubameyang wanted to play for Real, and although he insists he is happy at Dortmund, Aubameyang clearly wants a stint with the Madrid giants in the future.
Yes (I still want to play for Real), it is a promise I made to my grandfather, he told beIN Sports.
Right now I feel very good at Dortmund but in the future we will see.
City manager Pep Guardiola is a fan of the reigning African Player of the Year, and there are reports that a deal could be struck in January. Dortmund though have insisted that they are not interested in selling him.
The red-hot marksman has so far scored 19 goals in 18 games this season, including 15 in 12 German Bundesliga games.
