Peoples Digest Online – Pop Queen Madonna has mocked the pulled Pepsi advert starring Kendall Jenner.
The drinks company was accused of belittling the Black Lives Matter movement with their latest advert which saw Jenner hand over a can of Pepsi to a police officer in a move that seemed to echo a famous photo of a woman standing up to police at a US protest last year.
The Queen of Pop, 58, made a sly dig at the soft drink giant by posting a picture of herself holding a can of Pepsi’s rival, Coca-Cola.
She captioned the image with a first place gold medal emoji.
She also recalled having her own Pepsi commercial pulled in the late ‘80s after she chose to use her single Like A Prayer, which saw her kiss a black saint and burn crosses in the music video.
She captioned the post: “When you wake up and realise that s*** just really doesn’t make sense! #chosen.
“Side Note: My Pepsi commercial was pulled 30 years ago because I was kissing a black saint! #ironic.”
Jenner’s advert was condemned by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s daughter Bernice King, who tweeted a picture of her father being held back by police, with the caption: “If only daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi.”
Pepsi released an apology and admitted to ‘missing the mark’.
In a statement they said: “Pepsi was trying to project a global a message of unity, peace and understanding. Clealry, we missed the mark, and we apologise.
“We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout.
“We also apologise for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
